Bollywood, otherwise known as the Hindi film industry, has officially made it to the Oxford and Merriam-Webster dictionary to the chagrin and disappointment of some well known Hindi actors. Well, the term has seeped into the vocabulary of many people around the world and in some cases the term is used to refer to the entire Indian film industry! So, I am not sure how we can reverse this term: Bollywood. Anybody have any suggestions?

Here is a YouTube that amply illustrates the influence of Bollywood on high schools kids outside of India…check it out yourself this Bollywood High School video.

While Bollywood is a term that has made it to the Oxford Dictionary, over in UK there are quite a few people from the Asian community who prefer to watch Hollywood films when compared to Bollywood writes the BBC. When I read the article I was reminded of the wonderful and sad film about the Asian community in the UK: East is East. If you have not watched the film may I suggest getting a DVD copy and watching it? Otherwise here is a YouTube clip with some of George Khans quotes from the film.
