Apple’s iPhone in India

Apple’s iphone is not available in India, but that does not mean people not have access to them. A small number of people have access to iPhone and in this video clip you will meet Sidharth Mehta, who knows everything about iPhone.
In December 2007 Sidharth gave a demo of his iPhone at the MoMo Bangalore’s Mobile Demo event. The event was meant to feature mobile startups, and it did. But, what clearly caught people’s attention was Sidharth’s demo of his iPhone or the “God Phone.

Kamla,
I see a meeting.
Consider the analogy of a tunnel through a mountain.
The mountain that represents the problem of better and faster and cheaper communication /computation/information/entertainment is being bored into from two directions.
At one end the computers are becoming smaller and better. Desk tops may soon be obsolete and laptops are getting better and smaller and cheaper.
At the other end the mobile phones have starting packing the features found in laptops.
The two must meet and merge.
My wish list is for a small pocket sized computer that mimics everything that a mobile phone can do and not a mobile phone that mimics all that a computer can do.
My specs for a dream gadget:
A small laptop computer that is not over 8″x4″ in size and less than an inch thick and fits into a large sized coat pocket or a lady’s handbag. I am willing to get my coat altered for this gadget. It need not have CD/DVD drives but must have ports/sockets/usb slots for connecting any device externally.
It must have a full sized qwerty keyboard and a built in microphone and speakers and provide for wireless internet and must be able to double as a mobile phone too.
It must have a long battery life. 2 to 3 hours won’t do. 8 hours (a full working day) would be ideal.
I would be willing to pay Rs 30000/- for this.
When will this be available?

Vishwanath:
There is such a device and I have seen it. It is called HTC Advantage and my husband has one. It is like a small brick and comes with all the functions and features you are looking for and allows you to surf the internet and download your messages. It has a speaker phone, and has a nice comfortable screen a full-blown key-board. Dunno if it is available in India…will try to shoot a video and upload it.
I believe it costs under $1000. You can throw in a blue-tooth headset and have hands-free conversation.
Kamla
hmm, a simple demo of a phone in an unconference meant for mobile apps/startups. very weird.
