Jet Airways, India’s largest airlines, is expanding its footprint in the US and will now be flying out of the West Coast. Starting June 14th 2008 Jet Airways will operate flights out of San Francisco International Airport to Mumbai via Shanghai. What is interesting is that Jet Airways will become the first Indian airline to operate out of San Francisco. Air India, which flies from the West Coast operates out of Los Angeles airport.
Naresh Goyal, Chairman and Founder of Jet Airways is a keynote speaker at TiECon 2008 this Friday. He will also be addressing a press conference where he will talk more about the launch of their operations from San Francisco.
Currently, Jet Airways operates out of New York and Newark in New Jersey in the USA. I hope Jet Airways has ironed out the wrinkles in its booking system. When Jet launched its first flight out of New York we tried booking a flight and it turned out to be a wild goose chase. We could not book the flight online, we called Jet’s London office and then their Indian office and spent probably 3-4 hours trying to figure out how to get our tickets. Sadly, we did not succeed in our efforts. I have only flown Jet within India and am a big fan of the airlines, especially their air crew, who do an outstanding job.
Jet Airways currently flies to 59 destinations and operates 80 aircrafts that includes a mix of Boeing and Airbus planes.
