RockYou Receives $35 Million + Video Interview Jia Shen

RockYou, a social widget maker located in San Mateo received $35 million as part of its Series C funding. DCM led the funding for this latest round and previous investors of RockYou include Sequoia and LightSpeed.
RockyYou’s array of social widget offerings include SuperWall, Horoscope, SlideShow and many more. Their widgets can be found on Facebook, Orkut, MySpace, Hi5 and others.
RockYou’s growth has been phenomenal to say the least. In the last few months and gets millions of pageviews as Jia Shen, CTO of RockYou points out in this video clip that I recorded a couple of weeks ago. RockYou is doing some amount of localization in Asian countries, where the adoption of social networking has seen a phenomenal growth. Between India and China there are over 2 billion people that no company can afford to ignore.
The questions that continues to persist with social widget makers is what is the business model and can it be sustained?
