This week we will be celebrating women achievers to coincide with the BlogHer conference in San Francisco. Here is a lineup of 3 women achievers we will feature in the show this week.
Roma Kapoor works with United Way, a philanthropic organization that is over 100 years old. Roma is based in Washington DC and is leading United Way’s India initiative. She is a rare individual, who is very passionate about her work and appears to leave no stone unturned to achieve her goal. One of the terms that keeps popping in the interview is nurturing women to be leaders. In the interview I did with her she talks about United Way’s strategy and vision in India and how they are working on their road map.
Naomi Duguid is a lawyer turned author and cookbook writer. When she is not traveling around the world Naomi and her family live in Canada. I met with Naomi in New York and recorded this interview about her culinary travelogue: Mangoes and Curry Leaves. She co-wrote the book with her husband Jeffrey Alford. In the interview she talks about her travels through South Asia and her passion for cooking.
Lin Chase is a senior executive at Accenture, who lived in Banagalore, India for two years and helped build Accenture’s R&D India center. What is unique about Lin is the way in which she jumped with both her feet and immersed herself in learning how to do business in India. Often, on weekends and evenings you would find Lin mentoring young entrepreneurs either in Bangalore or which ever city she happened to be visiting during her extensive travels. Lin is a seasoned entrepreneur, who headed two start-ups and is passionate about entrepreneurship and helping women. In the interview she talks about the startup culture in India, setting up Accenture’s R&D Center and India.
What is unique about all these 3 women is they are all generous and open-hearted and are passionate in their desire to connect with others through their work, whether it is philanthropic, cooking or engineering.
I hope you get a chance to listen to these interviews.
