Here is the line-up for this week’s interview.
A 2-part interview with Murugan Pal of CK-12, a non-profit organization in the education field. CK-12 is co-founded by Neeru Khosla and Murugan and they are working on providing innovative technical solution for high-school students and teachers. Murugan has an interesting background. Prior to working with CK-12 he spent time as an entrepreneur in residence with two VC firms and worked with VInod Khosla for 9 years. He also co-founded 2 startups in Silicon Valley. How he became a software engineer is an interesting story and it underscores how sometimes life presents you with some incredible opportunities when you least expect it.
A 2-part interview with Diaz Nesamoney, founder of Jivox, a video ad-network that also provides customers an easy DIY way to create video ads. Recently, Jivox received its Series A round of funding from Helion and Opus Capital. I caught up with Diaz at his Silicon Valley office to find out about Jivox and also his journey and experience as an entrepreneur. Prior to Jivox Diaz co-founded Informatica that went from a small startup to a public company within a short span of time. After Informix Diaz founded Celequest that was acquired by Cognos.
We are doing something interesting this month to celebrate India’s independence on August 15th. Ever wondered what it was like on August 15, 1947? You have probably heard, read or listened to people talk about it or point you to Nehru’s Tryst With Destiny speech? But, what about the rest of the population? What did young students in Lucknow, Nagpur and other areas have to say about August 15, 1947? We will have a series of short video interviews with desis in Silicon Valley who look back on the day India got its independence. What is fascinating about doing this series is how how vividly many of them remember August 15, 1947. We don’t stop just with 1947, we also look back at Modern India and what they think of it. Most of the video interviews are in English and Hindi with an odd one in Tamil. We will be featuring these videos through out the month of August. Watch out for those.
