Slumdog Millionaire won 4 Golden Globe Award for best picture, best director, music and screenplay.
British director Danny Boyle won the award for directing this independent film, film composer AR Rahman won the award for best musical score and Simon Beoufy won for the best screenplay based on Vikas Swarup’s novel Q&A.
I believe this is the first time that we got to see a little live demo of Bollywood from Dev Patel. Anil Kapur, Frieda and Dev Patel were quizzed about the film and whom they would like to meet in Hollywood. Anil Kapoor wanted to meet Tom Hanks while Frida wanted to meet Jack Nicholson.
Drudgereport had a headline saying “Hooray for Bollywood.” Not really sure if Bollywood is the right term. It was not a Bollywood team that made the film, but a British team that was assisted by a strong Indian crew including Loveleen Tandan, who got the credit as co-director. There were just a couple of Bollywood folks in the team: Anil Kapoor and AR Rahman. What the Golden Globe Award does is give an impetus for Hollywood studio and distribution folks to make a beeline for Bollywood and try and make similar films.Film makers love to mimic successful movies and Slumdog Millionaire will be a formula for many directors in the months to come.
I guess the film has a pretty good chance of bagging a couple of awards at the Oscars next month.
Make it four
Done!
Thx

Here in Berkeley, California, Slumdog Millionaire has been talk of the town. We see standing ovations at the film theaters.
By the way, our music store Bombaymusic.com carries the extended version of the soundtracks from the movie. Intend to sell video DVDs shortly.
