RIP: Leela Naidu, Actress and Beauty Queen

Indian actress and former beauty queen Leela Naidu (69) passed away earlier this week in Mumbai.Described as one of the most elegant and beautiful Indian actresses Ms. Naidu’s was was a “delicate beauty.” At times she reminded you of Audrey Hepburn.  She made her acting debut in 1960 in Anuradha directed by Hrishkesh Mukherjee with music by Pandit Ravi Shankar. Ms. Naidu’s film reportaire was not an extensive one,  but it included some well known movies  like Merchant Ivory’s The Householder (1963) and  Shyam Benegal’s Trikaal made in the 1980s.Ms. Naidu was first married to BIki Oberoi, who is currently the head of Oberoi Hotels, a high-end luxury chain of hotels. The couple had twin daughters.In 1970 she married  her childhood friend, the well-known writer and poet Dom Moraes from whom she later separated.May her soul rest in peace.
