This year’s TiECon was a bit low-keyed and somber and was in ways a reflection of the economic situation in the USA. There were about 2,500 that attended the conference. However on the second day it seemed like there were fewer people, when compared to the first day.

TiECon 2008 starts in a few minutes and the first keynote speaker is Peter Thiel, founder and president of Clarium Capital Management. Prior to this Thiel was c0-founder of PayPal that was acquired by eBay. Thiel was an early investor in Facebook, the red hot social networking company.
