Last week BlogHer, a community of women bloggers, made two major announcements.  It received $5 million in funding from  Peacock Equity and Venrock, a returning investor. Peacock Equity was co-founded in 2007 by GE Commercial Finance’s Media Communications and Entertainment business and NBC Universal.

Japanese pharmaceutical company Daiichi Sankyo has acquired a majority stake in Ranbaxy, India’s largest drug making firm.  Under the agreement Daiichi will acquire the Singh family’s 34.8% stake at 737 rupees ($17.19) each writes The Wall Street Journal.
