We bring you an exclusive podcast interview with music director and singer AR Rehana, sister of AR Rahman, who talks about her career, music and Hollywood Bowl.
Rehana started her career in music by singing for her brother. But, gradually over the years she has transitioned from being a singer to a full-fledged music director for Tamil films.
Rehana’s first film as music director was Machi, and her second is the recently released film Aadatha Attamellam. Songs from her new film have already rocketed to the top Tamil songs billboard. You can listen to Naanga Collage Students Da and Kokkarako here.
It was about 5-6 years ago that Rehana started her music lessons. She continues to learn Carnatic and Hindustani music, and has her own recording studio in Chennai. While working on her album Ringaram Rehana got her first break from Director Madesh in his film Choclat. Her song Malai Malai was an instant hit. After that she got her first break as a music director for Machi.
Rehana is currently working on a multi-lingual album. You can expect to hear a lot more from her in the future.
