Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi are currently traveling in the US for their production of Kaifi Aur Main .
We recorded this interview on November 4, 2006 at the IAAC film fesitval in Manhattan, New York.
At the time of the interview the couple had not seen their new film Umrao Jaan, which was being shown at the IAAC film festival.
In this interview they talk about the play, Kaifi Azmi, and Umrao Jaan and the inevitable comparison to Muzaffar Ali’s Umrao Jaan.
I had an opportunity to listeen to the pair at the Kala Ghoda festival and their chemistry is amazing.
