Thanksgiving is a traditional US holiday that is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November. We went on a culinary journey around the US and India to find out how people celebrate Thanksgiving in their homes.

We spoke to four different people about how they celebrate Thanksgiving and what regional flavors they bring to their table on Thanksgiving.

Anita and Minakshi Tikoo are sisters who celebrate Thanksgiving that has a Kashmiri flavor. New York-based Sandra Weber’s Thanksgiving dinner has a distinct Jamaican flavor where they serve curry goat, roti and other dishes.

Maryam Scoble in California celebrates her Thanksgiving dinner with a distinct Persian influence, which means that basmati rice is mandatory dish on her table.

Anita is a landscape architect who lives in New Delhi and writes a food blog called MadTeaParty.

Minakshi is an Assistant Professor at the University of Connecticut.

Sandra works in New York.

Maryam Scoble works for Podtech in Silicon Valley and is a videoblogger and a regular blogger.

What is Thanksgiving if you don’t catch a glimpse of the famous Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade? You can watch two short video clips of the parade: video clip one and video clip two.
