Junnoon Junnoon is one of the hottest Indian restaurants in the San Francisco Bay area. I recently caught up with Junoon’s Executive Chef Kirti Pant in Palo Alto, California to find out about the restaurant, his style of cooking and more importantly, his deep passion for cooking. Junnoon means “passion” in Urdu and that seems to be the operative word for the folks behind Junnoon. In a short span of a year the restaurant has won quite a few prestigious awards and has become a hot favorite for many folks in Silicon Valley.
Tune it to find out what Kirti has to say about Junnoon and Indian culinary tradition in England among other things.
Prior to joining Junnoon Kirti worked at Tamarind in New York where he won the grand prize in the annual J. Moreau & Fils Chablis Fish Dish contest, which challenges chefs to create an innovative entrée to complement J. Moreau Chablis
Before moving to the US Kirti worked at London’s Cinnamon Club and prior to that he worked with the Taj Group of Hotels in India.
Kirti lives with his wife and young daughter in the San Francisco Bay area.
This is the first of a two part series with Kirti.
