Amit Shah of Artiman Ventures is an entrepreneur turned investor based in Silicon Valley. He was one of the early cross border investors who believed in the India story. When the Indian economy opened up in 1992, Amit came down from Silicon Valley and started a business in Mumbai in 1993.
Last month I caught up with Amit In Bangalore to find out what he thought of the new and emerging India and if India has reached an inflection point in entrepreneurship? Amit also talks about the investment philosophy of Artiman Ventures and what kinds of companies they plan to invest in India. Artiman’s focus in India is a little different, which is to invest in early stage ventures and also help incubate startups. Their investment interests are pretty broad and includes manufacturing, medical, wireless to technology startups.
Artiman has an office in Bangalore that is headed by MJ Aravind, who was a co-founder of Daksh that was acquired by IBM a few years ago.
Before Artiman, Amit was part of the merger and acquisition group at Cisco. Prior to that he was an angel investor and an entrepreneur.
