What is human computer interaction? Today many of us take for granted with ease with which we user our computers and other digital devices. But, it was not so long ago that using computers and digital devices was not an easy process.
Prof John Canny of UC Berkeley explains that human computer interaction is making computers (technology) available to people. Macintosh is an early example of this with their user friendly interface.
According to John, Steve Jobs of Apple was a key entrepreneur and agent in making this happen, but lot of the early ideas came from Xerox Parc and their Star project (Yogen Dalal of Mayfield Fund was a key member of the Star team).
This is part of a 2-part interview that was recorded in December 2007 in Bangalore.
