Dr. Lin. L. Chase served as the first director of Accenture’s India Research and Development Center and spent two years hiring, building and shaping the lab. This is Accenture’s 4th R&D lab in the world . Accenture’s India lab focuses on system integration and software engineering R&D.
In Part-1 of the interview Lin talks about the similiarities between Silicon Valley and Bangalore, which is dubbed as Silicon Valley of India. She also talks at length on how hired researchers for her team and shares her experience of working in India. Lin is a big fan of creating cross-cultural awareness and that is one of the big big themes in this interview. She talks about the cultural underpinnings of working in India and how she worked on creating cultural awareness for her colleagues.
During her 2-year stint in India Lin also got involved with National Association of Services and Software (NASSCOM) and the startup environment in India. She spent a lot of time with young, unproven entrepreneurs in mentoring and helping them with their business plans.
Lin has a PhD from Carnegie Mellon and was involved wth three startups: SpeechWorks International, Rhetorical Systems and NeoSpeech before she joined Accenture. in 2005. She is currently a senior executive at Accenture’s San Francisco office and reports to CTO Don Rippert.
