Abhishek Bachchan needs no introduction to Bollywood fans. But, if you have not heard of Abhishek here is a quick summary. His family is often described as the first family of Bollywood. He is the son of Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan and is married to Aishwarya Rai.

Abhishek made his debut in Bollywood with JP Dutta’s Refugee in 2000, and since then has gone on to act in various films with well-known directors like Mani Ratnam, Karan Johar among others.

Did he always want to be an actor? What is his typical day like? When will he start to blog since his father’s blog has turned out to be such a popular one? What are his new films for 2008? These were some of the questions that Abhishek answers in this interview. One thing that comes out loud and clear is the respect that Abhishek has for his fans and the attention he pays to their feedback.

Abhishek is currently on his first world tour: The Unforgettable Tour with his father, wife, Ritesh Deshmukh, Preity Zinta, Madhuri Dixit, Shilpa Shetty and others.

We recorded this interview on July 26, 2008. Due to a software glitch at our end there are certain portions of the interview that are slightly marred and we apologize in advance for that.

  1. Great Interview !!! I always enjoy bollywood content in any form. This was really great and I enjoyed it a lot…. keep pouring Kamla !!! :)

  2. After self-made entrepreneurs, ambitious writers, top-notch professors comes Ab Bachhan? Yuck!
Born with a silve spoon in mouth, spoon-fed by Daddy’s cronies and after languishing 7 years with a demonstrated inability of act, I wonder what qualifications make him eligible for this otherwise reputed show.

  3. Oh come on..relax..one bollywood biggie – big deal – it’s not like she interviewed the whole cast of Om Shanti Om or something. Besides, rather A Bachchan than SRK.

  4. Thanks Debashish. Glad that you enjoyed the interivew.

Harpreet: Thanks for your point of view and do appreciate you sharing your thoughts. If you would like to know why I chose Abhishek…I can share a couple of reasons. He has worked hard to get where he is and clearly appears to respect hard work and discipline. Clearly his parents have been a huge source of inspiration and motivation and have been his role models (the underling theme of my show) and I wanted to find out how he has evolved as an actor.

Anon…thanks for your support. Well, I think if I interviewed the whole cast of OSO I might get a coup of sorts. SRK is self-made as is Deepika Padukone and Farah….:-) I would love to interview the Big B…he is a self-made man who went from being a box-wallah as executives were known in the 1960s to an actor, who many thought would not make it. He stumbled a couple of times and each time appears to have made a stronger comeback. Plus, he is also an entrepreneur, who stumbled and recovered…I think he would be a perfect candidate for the show :-)

Thanks all for listening and sharing your thooughts.

    Kamla
