The online world is undergoing a huge change with video and audio downloads growing at a fast clip. Video is the biggest growth area in the online world. So, it is any surprise that online video ads are projected to be over $2 billion by 2010 by eMarketer. Unsurprisingly, there are a fair amount of startups and investors that are actively involved in the video ad networking space. In the the last couple of years a handful of startups have received investments from various VC firms including Silicon Valley-based Jivox. Recently, Jivox received about $10.7 million from Helion Venture Partners and Opus Capital.
I caught up with Diaz Nesamoney, founder of Jivox to find what is different about his company. Diaz talks about Jivox, how they are different, their revenue model, their target customers and why he is looking at India. Jivox has a development center and customers in India.
At the end of the day it is data that is at the heart of any ad-network. What do you do with that data and how do you generate revenue? What is Jivox doing differently with its data? I was curious to find out what Diaz had to say on the last question since he he previously headed 2 two business intelligence company: Informatica and Celequest.
Diaz has an engineering degree from BITS Pilani, India and worked briefly in the US before co-founding Informatica.
Tune back for Part-2 of the interview where Diaz talks about his journey as an entrepreneur. Growing up in Africa and India, starting a company was the farthest thing from his mind.
