PODCAST:BEHIND THE SCENES OF SOLD WITH JEFFREY BROWN AND SUSHMITA MUKHERJEE

SOLD is a feature film about human trafficking and is based on the novel by the same name by Patricia McCormick. In this interview director Jeffrey Brown and actress Susmita Mukherjee take us behind the scenes. Brown shares how he read the book in one sitting and optioned for it the next day. He was keen to work on a project on human trafficking and the ordeal that thousands of young teenagers go through as sex slaves.

SOLD is set in Nepal and India and is told from the perspective of a  young 13-year old Nepalese girl, who is sold to a brothel in Calcutta, India. Lakshmi goes through a terrible and traumatic life in the brothel before she finds help and is saved.

SOLD is currently playing in San Francisco Bay area theatres.
