Dr. Cynthia Lee teaches computer science at Stanford University. Dr. Lee shares how young children (girls and boys) are equally interested in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), but by the time they enter middle school that interest appears to undergo a change and the number of girls interested in STEM declines. She shares how she went through a similar phase and lost interest in math. Her reasoning was since she could solve the math problems quickly enough and slowly lost interest in the subject.
