Tracy Edwards is a trailblazer, who was the captain of the first all-female sailing crew that sailed around the world. This was in 1989 when Edwards and her crew successfully participated and completed the Whitbread race. They sailed for 9 months and were the first all-female crew to sail in this race. The name of their sailing boat was called Maiden.
Edwards journey is brilliantly captured in Alex Holme’s documentary Maiden. The film shows how Edwards got an all-female crew organized and how they sailed around the world.
Maiden released in July 2019 in the US.
