WOMEN IN STEM: NuMEDII’S DR. GINI DESHPANDE

Dr. Gini Deshpande is founder and CEO of NuMedii, a funded startup in Silicon Valley. “We are a data-driven drug discovery company,”says Dr. Deshpande. Numedii leverages big data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve the way of drug discovery process explains Dr. Deshpande. There is lot of data available about patients from different resources and the idea is to better understand disease conditions she adds.

Dr. Deshpande shares how the idea for NuMedii was born and incubated at Stanford University and how she worked on raising funding for her startup. She also shares how her team at NuMedii is harnessing AI and big data to find new uses for existing molecules. 

Dr. Deshpande is a molecular biologist with PhD from Purdue University. She did her post-doctoral work at the Massachusetts General Hospital and then worked at Children’s Hospital in Boston. She then worked at Affymetrix and iPierian before becoming an entrepreneur and starting NuMedii.
